My Wild Hope and Dream

I have loved poetry my whole life. Just out of high school, I audited a graduate poetry course taught by Christopher Wiseman at The University of Calgary that confirmed poetry would be a life-long love affair. Later, I participated in wonderful poetry workshops with other distinguished North American poets, including: Karen Solie, Ken Babstock, Nadia Colborn and Holly Wren Spaulding. But it was only when the global pandemic paused life, work, and plans to attend The Banff Writing School that I finally really turned to poetry – as  refuge, solace, purpose and voice – and doing so changed me.  I had the opportunity to work with two wonderful, distinguished, generous poets, Molly Peacock and Kelsea Habecker, to get a first collection of poetry out into the world.  I have never felt more myself.

My debut poetry collection, The Wilding, was published in the spring of 2024, and a second collection, The Land Between, is now in development. Each of these collections seeks to bear witness to and honour this magnificent planet, and was written as a kind of love letter and offering to the Earth. It is my sincere hope they spark something – awe, wonder, or perhaps even a call to action – in everyone who reads them.
